Historic community, located ten miles east of Independence, Kansas and five miles west of Beautiful Big Hill Lake, seeks a certified police officer. Cherryvale is home to the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, has a local golf course, and several parks that offer recreation, relaxation, and fishing. Cherryvale is a full service town that includes restaurants, a grocery store, hardware store, and many other businesses. A historically significant community, Cherryvale is a community of neighborhoods with several thriving industries and beautiful tree lined streets.

RANK AND SALARY
Commensurate to experience. Salary ranging from $10.00 to $14.00 an hour. Benefits include overtime, vacation, sick leave, health insurance, KPERS retirement and uniforms and equipment provided.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Current KLETC certification or the ability to become certified. In addition, the applicant must be 21 years of age with a valid driver's license and High School Diploma or GED certificate. Applicant shall have no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions and be able to pass a background check, polygraph examination, drug testing, and physical examination.

TESTING
Potential applicants will undergo a battery of tests including oral interview board, physical agility test, polygraph, and written examination. A final job offer will be contingent on passing a physical and drug test.

If you have an interest in a law enforcement career, the Cherryvale Police Department is a great place to start your career.   Reserves have the opportunity to be trained in all aspects of patrol, traffic, investigations, and will be allowed to attend outside training with full-time officers if interested.  Reserves will also be considered for promotions for all part-time paid, and full-time position before hiring outside of the agency.
