Department Commendation Bars


Medal of Honor

Presented to officers killed or seriously injured while in the line of duty, that go above and beyond the call of duty while facing imminent danger of great bodily harm or death. 


Medal of Valor

Presented to officers for bravery above and beyond the normal call of duty, while facing imminent danger, of great bodily harm or death.


Medal of Valor x 4

Presented to officers who have received a metal of valor on more than three occasions.


Purple Heart

Presented to officers who have been wounded in the line of duty.


Medal of Merit

Presented to officers for outstanding service, including investigations & apprehensions to which great time is devoted, or risk of harm is present. 


Medal of Merit x 4

Presented to officers who have received a metal of merit on more than three occasions.


Full-Time Certification

Presented to officers who are full-time and state certified.


Tactical Operation

Presented to officers who have completed 40 hours of tactical training & have participated in a high risk operation, such as high risk search warrant, etc.


Community Service Award

Presented to officers whose involvement with starting and continuing a program results in improving the overall quality of life in the community.


Part-time Certification

Presented to officers that have completed required Part-time Police Officer Certification Training. 


Training Certification

Presented to officers that have completed required training in Radar, ASP, OC, Taser, Firearm, and/or completed the Reserve Officer Training Program.


Expert Firearm qual

Presented to officers who qualified between 90-100% on their firearm qualification.


Instructor

Presented to officers that have been certified as an instructor, including but not limited to OC, ASP, radar, firearms, Dare, etc.


Diving

Presented to officers who become certified as divers.


Bike Patrol

Presented to officers who become certified as bike patrol officers or have logged more then 80 hours of bike patrol.

Certified Storm Spotter
Presented to officers who have completed the department Skywarn Storm spotter test.  Attend/pass the advanced National Weather Service Spotter test, and have been issued a spotter number by the Nation Weather Service.

Storm Spotter
Presented to officers who have completed the department Skywarn Storm spotter test, and have attended a National Weather Service Spotter meeting.


Gold star

Awarded to officers when award has been achieved more than once.
