Activity Report

In April of 2009, Cherryvale Fire-Rescue tested all hydrants in the city.  The following are the important items learned during that testing.

153 plugs were tested, the same number as in 2008

The average flow was 675 gallons per minute, down from 1001 in 2008.  The average flush volume was 2304 per plug with a total flush of 352,553  gallons.  These are both also decreases from 2008’s 5014 per plug for a total flush of 767,121.

In 2009:

9 hydrants flowed between 250-499 gpm and identified as red.  6% of the total

39 hydrants flowed between 500-999 gpm and identified as orange.  25% of the total

61 hydrants flowed between 1000-1499 gpm and identified as green.  40% of the total

36 hydrants flowed 1500+ gpm and identified as blue.  24% of the total

8 hydrants flowed less than 250 gpm, are out of service and are identified as black. 5% of the total.  Several of these hydrants are in critical areas and should top the list of repairs needed.  The hydrants that are currently completely out of service are:
